Familia noble de Cataluña. Poseyó el título de conde de Fogonella hasta que lo perdió don Juan de A. y Belloc, por su adhesión a la casa de Austria. Dicho título le fue concedido en 1753 a don Juan Pablo Salvador de A., vecino de Vilafranca del Penedés. Don Francisco de A. y de Canal, alguacil mayor de la Real Audiencia de Palma de Mallorca y caballero de Carlos III, fue el que fundó en Palma la casa de su apellido, por haber contraído matrimonio, a principios de siglo XIX, con doña Juana Martorell, poseedora de los vínculos y mayorazgos de Martorell de Pollensa y Danús de Santany. De una rama estableciada en San Juan de las Abadesas (Gerona) fue Juan de A. y Roure, natural de San Juan de las Abadesas que de su esposa doña Teresa Ferrer, natural de Gerona, tuvo a Domingo de A. y Ferrer, natural de Barcelona, que casó con doña Isabel de Recaño y Blois, natural de Cádiz, y fueron padres de Felipe A. y Recaño, natural de Cádiz, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Cayetana Faner, natural de Vilafranca de Penedés (Barcelona), naciendo de esa unión Manuel de A. y Faner, natural de Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz) y caballero de la Orden de Carlos III, en la que ingresó el 24 de noviembre de 1788.
