En la ciudad de Sóller, del partido judicial de Palma de Mallorca, islas Baleares, hubo dos casas de este linaje de gran antigüedad. Una fue conocida con el nombre de E. de Castelló y se extinguió en el siglo XVIII, siendo heredada por la casa de Serra de Marina. La otra casa de E. subsiste con el nombre de Moncaire, y de ella fue representante en el siglo XIX Bartolomé E. y Socias o Socies. Pedro de E. era del consejo de Mallorca en 1511. Francisco de E. en 1532, y Damián de E. en 1555, 1557 y 1566. Ramón de E. y Pont fue jurado de Palma en 1697, y Juan Antonio de E. en 1703 y 1708. Jorge Francisco E. desempeñó los cargos de intendente del ejército, ministro de capa y espada y consejero de Hacienda. Murió en Sevilla el 5 de enero de 1806. Juan E. de Moncaire y Socias fue teniente de infantería y ayudante de campo del gobernador militar de Palma.
