La nobile ed antica famiglia Tremola, Estremol ed Estremola secondochè Mugnos ed il Villabianca ci attestano è originaria della Spagna, venuta in Sicilia con re Pietro d'Aragona per un Filippo Estremola 1480. Le lettere reali datate da Madrid il 1678, e l'attestato di nobiltà rilasciato dal senato di Palermo 1763 in favore della famiglia Estremola dimostrano abbastanza esser ella stata chiara ed illustre. Un Filippo Estremola fu inviato straordinario del senato di Palermo al serenissimo D. Giovanni di Austria; un Giuseppe fu custode del supremo magistrato di salute Pubblica, carica nobile sostenuta in seguito dalla famiglia Estremola; finalmente è degno di menzione un Federico barone di S. Sebastiano, governatore del Monte di Pietà 1767, della Tavola 1793, e cavaliere di giustizia dell'Ordine Costantiniano 1799.
