Questa famiglia per quanto si può cognetturare, fu console della famiglia Gnea, di cui ne fa menzione il Panuino, nel trattato de antiquis rerum nominibus, ponendola tra le famiglie patrizie romane, alle quali Fassocio Tarquinio il Superbo: e di questa fu figliuolo C. Ottavio Ruffo, che generò due figliuoli. Questa famiglia di poi fu scritta col G. come notano molti Autori; e Gneo di Tito Gneo Canio, per voto degli Dei, edificò quel sontuoso Tempio, dedicato alla Dea Minerva, da me descritto nell'Istoria, d'Assisi, come ciò si cava dalle vestigie dell'iscrizione, fatta di metallo prezioso, posta nella facciata del suddetto Tempio; le quali letter per la voracità de' Popoli, Barbari, furono rubate, e con restauri concavi in pietra, o spazi delle suddette lettere; da' quali pur oggi si legge il nome di Gneo Fassicio, figliuolo di Geno, che fu uno del Magistrato deputato del Senatore d'Assisi, a rifare le muraglie
