Famiglia anticamente originaria del Cremonese. Nel sec. XIV un Bettoncello da Azzanello si stabilì nel Bresciano e precisamente nei paesi di Farfengo e Acqualunga dove aveva acquistato dei terreni. Un suo nipote Feo De Bettoncelli, assieme al fratello Venturino, attorno alla metà del sec. XV trasportò la residenza della famiglia in Brescia ottenendovi con provvisione del 6 aprile 1442 la cittadinanza per sé e posteri con tutti i privilegi dei cittadini originari. Morto senza figli, quale capo della famiglia, Feo diede il proprio nome ai figli del fratello che da allora si chiamarono Bettoncelli del Feo; costoro, Gabriele e Andrea, assieme ai loro figli figurano in tutti gli estimi fatti in Brescia nel 1442, 1475, 1486, 1498 e sono riconosciuti, in una lettera Ducale, del 3 dicembre 1497, buoni, benemeriti e probi cittadini. Nella prima metà del sec. XVI la famiglia, che aveva abbandonato il cognome primitivo, chiamandosi semplicemente
