Antica famiglia, di chiara ed avita virtù, la quale fu ricevuta in priorato, nel 1776, nel S.M.O. di Malta, col cavaliere Giovan Domenico, ed in convento, nel 1797, con i cavalieri Onofrio e Giuseppe. Riconosciuta di nobiltà generosa nelle prove di ammissione nelle RR. Guardie del Corpo di Federico e Francesco de Ruggero. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano del 1922 col titolo di nobile (maschi e femmine), in persona dei componenti la famiglia della quondam Maria Gabriella FIGNON Palumbo, madre dei cavalieri Onofrio e Giuseppe, ricevuti nel 1797. Altro ramo. Originaria di Avignone, portato a Bari da un Giovanni, dottore in leggi nel 1530, ed aggregato a quella nobiltà. I di lui figli, Lodovico e Mario, divisero la famiglia in due distinti rami. Quello di Mario si estinse alla terza generazione, dopo aver dato alla patria Fabio decurione dei nobili nel 1615 e 1620, ed Antonio mastro-giurato
