Familia originaria de Fontanile, que luego se extendió a Casale Monferrato, Mantua y Alessandria. Tenía un caballero de Malta, Fernando, en 1580, una época en que la familia ya estaba en un estado elevado. El progenitor conocido es Gian Matteo, de Fontanile, ya fallecido en 1539, padre de Ardizzino, senador (1545-62) y capitán general de justicia en Casale (1562). Su hijo Orazio compró el feudo de Bruno del Scarampi y se lo invirtió, con un título noble el 24 de marzo de 1588. Una década más tarde, el 15 de abril de 1598, se erigió la enemistad en el condado a favor de su hijo, Ortensio, pretor de Mantua y senador, que murió sin hijos. Fue sucedido por su hermano Ardizzino (dic. 1617), gobernador de Trino, y como su hermano, senador. Ortensio, quien murió en 1642 e invirtió el 11 de agosto de 1632 con Carentino, merece una mención especial;
