In Val Curone a ridosso delle alture che s'ergono sulla destra del torrente omonimo e poco distante da S. Sebastiano, l'abitato di Fabbrica, costituito da qualche decina di case un castello e poco più di un centinaio di anime, faceva parte nel XII sec. del Comitato di Tortona e dal vescovo concesso in signoria ad una famiglia viscontile tortonese, sua vassalla, che del luogo prese il nome; i cartari tuttavia designano il casato a volte col nome di F. ed a volte con quello di Curone, forse per distinguerlo da altro nucleo dimorante in una località omonima presso Montegioco, per cui si avverte che nella presente esposizione le due denominazioni hanno per oggetto un'unica famiglia. Raimondo di F. è il primo membro della casata segnalato dai cartari: esso è teste con atri Signori in atto del 10 settembre 1150 con cui Guglielmo, vescovo di Tortona, condanna i vogheresi a rilasciare
