Antigua familia sarda, de nobleza clara y probada, con residencia en la ciudad de Cagliari, cuya primera información cierta data del siglo XVII. El origen de esta cognominación, por decir lo menos de los genealogistas ilustres, debe buscarse en una modificación dialectal con la duplicación de la consonante del término "fada" (= hada), apodo probable, atribuido a un, ahora desconocido, progenitor de apariencia bella y mágica. Además, esta familia, que, en 1724, obtuvo el título de caballero hereditario, en la persona del abogado Antonio, concejal de Cagliari, en todas las edades, siempre se distinguió por los altos personajes, a los que dio a luz. Entre estos, recordamos: Giuseppe, un valiente caballero de Cagliari, que floreció a principios del siglo XVI, que jugó bajo la bandera del rey de Aragón, pero, distinguido en la facción de Navarra en 1512, Fernando el Católico lo promovió al más alto grado en el filas
