Così da un castello dell'Imolese fu detta una famiglia che era oscura nel secolo XI e che fu resa illustre da un Lamberto, il quale dall'arcivediaconato bolognese promosso al vescovato di Ostia fu papa col nome di Onorio II, il quale morì nel 1130. Ugo partì con la crociata del 1217 la spedizione militare guidata da Andrea II d'Ungheria, Leopoldo IV d'Austria e da Giovanni di Brienne re di Gerusalemme, e nel 1219 occupò Damietta, nel delta del Nilo. Il sultano d'Egitto propose la cessione di Gerusalemme ai crociati in cambio di Damietta ma di fronte al rifiuto li affrontò militarmente e li costrinse ad abbandonare la città occupata (1221). Gardino combattè a villa Sorbaria contro i Tedeschi. Raimondino anziano della patria. Della famiglia non si hanno più notizie.
