Familie ursprünglich aus Amalfi, wo es alte Erinnerungen gibt; im dreizehnten Jahrhundert zog er nach Sorrent. Roberto, Giovanni, Leonardo Falangola waren "Soldaten von Sorrent", wie wir in Dokumenten des Königlichen Staatsarchivs von Neapel lesen. Domizio, Erzbischof von Sorrent, starb in Roberto, starb 1470. Bernardino von Marchetto Falangola, königlicher Kapitän, war Vater von Giovan Battista, Federico und Francesco Gouverneur von Sorrent und der Kapitäne Nardo und Nicolantonio infeudato von Fagnano. Filippantonio, dessen Sohn, kämpfte 1600 im Flandernkrieg; Bernardo, Kommandeur des Gerosolimitano-Ordens im Jahre 1653; Nicola und Tommaso, 1694 und 1696 bekannte Ritter desselben Ordens, 1736 Antonino, Bischof von Caserta. Diese Familie genoss vom 13. Jahrhundert bis zur allgemeinen Abschaffung der Sitze die Ehre des Adels in Sorrent an der Porta. Es ist in der offiziellen italienischen Liste mit dem Titel eines Patriziers von Sorrent (m.) Registriert.
