Esistono ed esistevano anticamente in Ispagna diverse famiglie, senza che si sappia ancora se debbano o no considerarsi di comune origine. La famiglia più cospicua di questo nome è quella stabilita da tempi antichissimi a Valenza. In un congresso storico, tenuto in questa città orsono pochi anni, fu riferito sulle ricerche della famiglia nobile più antica di quel Regno, e risultò che i Falcò e i Castelli vi si contendevano esse sole questo primato. I genealogosti del seicento, che con tanta facilità applicavano alle grandi famiglie un'origine favolosa, o mitologica, diedero ai Falcò come capostipite un Console Romano di nome Pompeo Falcòne, altri consideravano questa famiglia originaria dei Goti, altri dei Mori; altri assegnava come capostipite un principe scandinavo, altri un principe di Sulcia, che dominò l'Isola di Candia e che sposò una figlia di Camirto, re di Dascia. Ma lasciando in disparte queste favole che non hanno alcun valore
