Antica famiglia originaria di Salò e poi diramata a Brescia, ebbe per capostipite un Otto od un Obizzo vissuti circa il 1160, dai quali derivò un Alberto, il primo che si chiamasse Calsone circa il 1180. Un Francesco Calsone, vissuto nel XV secolo fu uomo di valore e tenne casa in Salò, in Brescia e in Venezia. Dottore in leggi, fu più volte onorato di gravi incarichi ed ambasciate, e nel 1452 fondò la Cappella della Trinità nella chiesa parrocchiale di Salò giuspatronato della famiglia. Ma il maggior splendore di questa rifulse in principio del XVI secolo all'epoca nefasta della Lega di Cambray contro la quale combattè valorosamente un altro Francesco connestabile al servizio della Veneta Repubblica e morì da prode coll'arma in pugno alla battaglia detta dell'Olmo nel 1513, dopo essersi coperto di gloria in mille fatti d'armi contro i Francesi prima e quindi contro gli Spagnuoli.
