Maison chevaleresque à laquelle on donne la même origine qu'aux Anduse. Elle est connue depuis le seigneur de La Fare, de la paroisse de Saint-André-de-Valborgne, dans les Cévennes, cité dans les annales de Raymond d'Agiles et de Pons de Balazuc, parmi les chevaliers qui, en 1096, accompagnèrent le comte de Toulouse à la prèmiere croisade. Autre branche de la Bretagne: Guillaume, chambellan du roi Charles VII en 1435; un maréchal de France en 1746, frère d'un évêque duc de Laon en 1722 puis archevêque de Cambrai mort en 1764; un cardinal évêque de Nancy en 1787, puis archevêque de Sens, pair de France et ministre d'Etat, mort en 1829. La branche de Vénéjan alliée aux Quengo de Crenolle, et aux Buon de Kermadec s'est établie en Bretagne. Autre branche: un échevin de Nantes en 1661; Jean docteur régent en la Faculté de Médecine de l'Université de Nantes en 1696.
