La mayoría de los tratadistas afirman que este linaje procede de Portugal. Antes, sin embargo, los hubo en Galicia. El primero de que se tiene noticia es Vasco Pérez F., descendiente de los Goes y los Estrada, que pasó a Portugal con el Conde Don Enrique. Su hermano, Alonso Pérez F., fué Prior del Hospital de San Juan Miranda por el Rey Don Alonso II de Portugal y su privado y testamentario. Baños de Velasco dice que el lugar donde radicaron los F. gallegos se llamaba Godoy, y es sin duda la aldea del mismo nombre perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de la Estrada, en la provincia de Pontevedra. También se extendieron por Aragón, pues en el año de 1582 figuraba como hijodalgo en el maravedí Domingo F., vecino de Biescas, villa del partido judicial de Jaca (Huesca).
