Il 30 agosto 1122 Rubaldo Faxolus presenzia in episcopio alla stesura del documento sottoscritto come teste, con cui il vescovo di Tortona vende ai consoli del Comune il Monte degli Arimanni detto poi Serravalle, con relativo castello; tale appare anche in atto del 6 marzo 1157 relativo a donazioni fatte al monastero di Rivalta; nel 1163 è investito della carica consolare anno in cui i pavesi distruggono Tortona per la seconda volta. Nell'elenco delle famiglie nobili fiorenti in Tortona l'anno 1293 e pubblicato poi a Milano nel 1503 dal senatore Agostino Guidobono, sono inclusi i F. Famiglie omonime e coeve sono presenti in Voghera, Broni, Vigevano, Pavia, Milano, Lodi, Vercelli, Genova. A Tortona non si hanno più notizie di tale famiglia dal XIV secolo.
