La Casata trae antiche e nobili origini dalla città di Amantea, in provincia di Calabria Citra, donde passò in Sicilia e fu ascritta alla nobiltà di Scicli. Francesco Saverio fu proconservatore in detta città nel 1734 e Guglielmo tenne la stessa carica nel 1749. Quest'ultimo acquistò il titolo di Marchese di Camporeale nel 1786. I membri della famiglia di Amantea nel secolo XIX furono illustrati da Bartolomeo, uno dei nobili della città che nel 1814 sottoscrissero l'indirizzo di fedeltà al Re Gioacchino Murat. La Casata Milanese, detta poi Milanesi, trae remote origini da Milano e risulta stabilita in Sicilia fino dal Secolo XVI. In Sicilia i Milanese possedettero i feudi di Crucifia, Ganzaria, Nixima e Montagna. Orazio ottenne il titolo di Cavaliere nel 1576, titolo che fu concesso anche a un Giuseppe da Catania.
