Familia muy antigua, cuyas primeras noticias se remontan a 1283, año en el que entre los caballeros de Butera encontramos a William y entre los caballeros de Mineo a Raynaldo. Un Federico Federico, de Sciacca, compró el feudo de Cefalà en 1370 y tal vez fue él mismo el Federico quien ocupó el excelente cargo de pretor de Palermo en 1367; un Antonino, para su esposa Antonella Imbeagna, poseía el derecho del grano en el cargador de Sciacca; a Gaspare Federico y Balsamo fue juez del tribunal de la Gran Corte Penal del Reino en los años 1639-40-41, con privilegio otorgado el 30 de mayo, ejecutado el 15 de septiembre de 1643, obtuvo el puesto de maestro maestro racional de la corte Real Patrimonio, y con privilegio otorgado el 23 de julio, ejecutado el 15 de septiembre de 1643, tuvo para sí y para su familia la concesión del título
