Antigua familia de Amalfi, llamada Felice o Felice, a cuyo patriciado se le atribuyó, que era la dama de muchas tierras, con los títulos de barón, conde, marqués y duque. A lo largo de los siglos, esta ilustre familia se dividió en muchas ramas, una de las cuales pasó a Piamonte, otra a Abruzos, una tercera a Nápoles, una cuarta a Apulia y una quinta a Francia, donde se estableció en Annonay. La rama de Nápoles, después de la famosa plaga de 1600, huyó al campo de Somma Vesuviana, donde compró inmensas propiedades y el palacio del duque de Capracotta. También se dividió en cuatro ramas, dos de las cuales permanecieron en la ciudad de Somma y dos regresaron a Nápoles, donde se les otorgó el título de Marqués en el apellido.
