En la provincia de Álava hubo un pueblo denominado Piérola, hace mucho tiempo desolado y desaparecido, en el que radicó la casa solar y palacio del linaje Piérola o F. de Piérola, que tomó nombre del citado pueblo. Una de sus ramas pasó a Navarra, fundando nueva casa en la villa de Lazagurría del partido judicial de Estella, y ganó ejecutoria de hidalguía en 1781. Otra se estableció en la ciudad de Viana, del mismo partido. Son sus armas: La cruz latina del Calvario en medio de una estrella y una luna, rodeadas de cadena, con cuatro aspas sobre la cadena. Está confirmado este blasón en la Nobleza Executoriada de Navarra, pero sin indicar sus esmaltes. En la casa de la villa de Lazagurría esas mismas armas de F. de Piérola en el primer cuartel de un escudo cuartelado en cruz, y en los cuarteles segundo, tercero y cuarto las
