Former patronymic of Fernando, used since ancient times and, as such, gave rise to different families. The one most remotely known to have had a Letter of Coat of Arms was Diogo Fernandes Correia, Factor of D. João II in Flanders and Knight of his House, to which Emperor Maximilian I of Germany, for the many services he had rendered to him, granted in 1488, the favor of new weapons that El-King D.Manuel I confirmed to him in 1509.
