Famille ancienne et illustre, de vertu claire et ancestrale, qui était riche de branches nombreuses et vastes, telles que les fameuses dynasties de Naples et de Capoue, qui jouissaient de la noblesse dans cette dernière ville et qui avaient leur propre siège à Naples; les Ferrara de Cosenza, qui avaient des titres et des fiefs ; ceux de Catanzaro, reçus pour justice dans l'ordre de Jérusalem en 1662 ; ceux de Terra d'Otranto, qui portent encore le titre de duc de Parabita. Les mémoires de la famille Salernitano se trouvent depuis 1188, avec un Giovanni, seigneur du château de Gragnano; un autre Giovanni était donc un stratigoth de Salerne en 1265 ; Matteo, juge en 1275 ; Riccardo, inféodé en 1383 de l'office de credentiere des douanes de Salerne, et d'autres encore. Ils se sont implantés à Eboli, Altavilla, Cava, Giffoni, Lettere, Olevano sul Tusciano, Rivelli et Tramutola. Ils possédaient
