Famiglia pavese della quale le prime memorie risalgono al 1381 con un Giovanni, ufficiale delle strade di Pavia. diede uomini dotti nelle scienze mediche, giuridiche e notarili. Giovanni Matteo, professore alla universitá di Pavia, fu medico del Doge di Genova e delle case principesche di Mantova e di Bologna, autore di varie opere autorevoli. Lasció erede dei suoi averi l'ospedale della Pietá di S. Matteo alla sua morte che avvenne nel 1465. Un Giovanni Paolo nel 1559 fu cavaliere di Malta. Il generale Federico fu al servizio del granduca di Toscana e lo accompagnó in esilio e nominato feldmaresciallo dell'esercito austriaco, ebbe il titolo di barone dell'impero austriazo. Il tribunale araldico lombardo il 29 marzo 1775 riconobbe la nobiltá a questa famiglia e l'uso dello stemma sopra descritto. Con D. M. 1909 veniva riconfermato nella nobiltá (mf) e riconosciuto il trattamento di don e donna a Carlo F. da Grado,
