Es notoria en todos los reinos de Europa, y principalmente en Italia, la antigüedad, nobleza y señalados varones de la ilustre familia de F., tratando de ella fidedignos y acreditados autores, especialmente Agustin Franzon en su Nobiliario de Oro, de Génova, en que dice que procede del estado y ciudad de Ferrara, donde radicó su primitivo solar, que por ser la casa principal de dicha ciudad tomó el nombre de la misma, el cual con el tiempo se ha modificado de Ferrara en F. Muchos son los varones eminentes que ha producido esta esclarecida casa. Jaime Antonio F., primo del Illmo. Sr. D. Antonio F., que fué obispo de Lecea por los años de 1360.
