Famiglia algherese di origine catalana le cui notizie risalgono al secolo XV. Erano mercanti e si arricchirono con il commercio, raggiungendo una posizione ragguardevole nella vita della città. Nel 1402 un Francesco Pietro ottenne in enfiteusi la signoria della scrivania della regia governazione dei capi di Sassari e del Logudoro. Suo figlio Pietro si segnalò nell'assedio di Monteleone, ricoperse importanti uffici pubblici, facendo assumere alla sua famiglia una posizione di assoluto rilievo. Nel 1429 Pietro ottenne in feudo il salto di Sangrino, nel 1433 acquistò dal fisco i salti spopolati di Uruspe e Gennari, nel 1434, dagli eredi Suñer, Sorso e il distretto della Romangia; nel 1435 il diritto dei macelli di Alghero e nel 1436 il diritto del venteno. Inoltre nella liquidazione del patrimonio feudale dei Doria ottenne le signorie di Padria e di Mara. Negli anni successivi Pietro continuò ad allargare i possessi feudali e privilegi della famiglia:
