Si crede originaria di Genova e godette nobiltà in Messina e in Catania. Un Antonio tenne la carica di giudice delle appellazioni di Messina nel 1542, quelle di giudice della corte straticoziale della stessa città nel 1549-50, 1552-53, di giudice del tribunale della Gran Corte Civile del Regno negli anni 1571, 1572, 1573; un Vincenzo fu giudice della corte straticoziale di Messina nel 1583-84, 1588-89 ed egli stesso è annotato nella mastra nobile del Mollica 1591; un Carlo fu giudice della corte straticoziale di Messina nel 1650-51, del tribunale della Gran Corte del Regno negli anni 1657, 1658, 1659 e forse egli stesso fu quel Carlo che troviamo proconservatore in Lentini nel 1690; un Alfio godette nobiltà in Catania 1630 ed oggi i suoi discendenti godono del titolo di nobile. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto
