Linaje originario de la villa de Villanova (Huesca). A esta casa perteneció Pedro Ferraz, natural de Villanova, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María Nadal, natural de Ontiñera, del partido judicial de Fraga, en la misma provincia; fueron padres de Francisco Ferraz y Nadal, natural de Lérida, que casó con doña María Paniagua, y procrearon a Félix Ferraz y Paniagua, natural de Palma de Mallorca, gobernador de Veracruz, brigadier de los Reales Ejércitos, teniente del Comando Militar de Madrid y caballero de la Orden de Santiago. Tuvo por esposa a doña Gertrudis de Pereda, a la que hizo madre de María de las Mercedes Ferraz y Pereda, a quien el Rey de Armas, Ramón Zazo y Rosillo, libró real despacho de nobleza y armas, el 20 de marzo de 1783. Esta línea entroncó con los marqueses de Liédena. Hubo una casa en Lérida.
