Ancienne et illustre famille romaine, de vertu claire et ancestrale, connue sous le nom de Ferracci, Ferrazzi ou Ferrazza, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. D'après ce qui nous est transmis, elle serait originaire de Catalogne, où elle était connue sous le nom de Ferraz, dont une branche aurait pris le Latium avant le XVe siècle. En fait, déjà dans la seconde moitié du XVe siècle, le notaire B. Ferrazzi de Valstagna prospérait, dans la région de Viterbo, tandis que dans la seconde moitié du siècle suivant, le notaire Battista Ferrazzi était trouvé, également dans la région de Viterbo. On ne sait pas s'il existe des liens généalogiques avec la famille Ferrazza du Trentin, une branche des seigneurs de Campo aujourd'hui éteinte. En tout cas, comme le rapportent Ceccarelli et Iacovacci, la famille Ferrazza fait partie des nobles du Capitole, au moins depuis le Xe siècle. En
