Antica ed illustre famiglia romana, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Ferracci, Ferrazzi o Ferrazza, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa sarebbe originaria della Catalogna, ove era conosciuta come Ferraz, da donde un ramo si sarebbe portato in territorio laziale anteriormente al XV secolo. Già nella seconda metà del '400 fioriva infatti il notaio B. Ferrazzi di Valstagna, nel viterbese, mentre nella seconda metà del secolo seguente trovasi il notaio Battista Ferrazzi, sempre nel viterbese. Non è noto se vi siano legami genealogici con i Ferrazza del Trentino, ramo oggi estinto dei signori di Campo. In ogni modo, come riportano il Ceccarelli e lo Iacovacci, la famiglia Ferrazza trovasi tra le nobili capitoline, almeno sin dal secolo decimo sesto. D’altronde essa, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome,
