Famiglia cagliaritana, assai antica ed illustre, che ottenne il cavalierato ereditario, nel 1701, con un Alessio. Un ramo di questa famiglia, in tempi assai remoti, passò in Sicilia. I primi a passare in Sicilia furono Antonio che, con privilegio del 17 giugno 1399 ottenne il feudo di Stissibilia, e Marco, che acquistò il feudo di Birribaida e Belice. Paolo acquistò il feudo di Migaido e Pettineo nel 1550; Niccolò fu senatore in Palermo 1540/1; altro Antonio fu capitano di giustizia, nel 1609/10, in Palermo. Altro ramo, passò in Roma. Infatti, questa famiglia, a dir dell'Amayden, era sicuramente compresa tra quelle raccolte nel Libro d'Oro del Campidoglio. Dalla bibliografia documentata sui manoscritti della Vaticana, può rilevarsi il numero relativamente esiguo delle memorie riguardanti le famiglie romane.
