La familia Ponsiglione proviene de Testona. Giovanni Antonio, que nació allí en el siglo XV, era patricio de Moncalieri y pertenecía al cellegio de los jurisconsultos de Turín. En 1490 fue profesor en la oficina general de Turín, luego senador en el Senado de Piamonte y abogado ducal. Murió en 1496. Su hijo era Michele, quien nació a mediados del siglo XV, y murió casi centenario, probablemente en 1545, año en que hizo su testamento. Fijó su residencia en Cherasco, donde fue alcalde, con algunas interrupciones, desde 1484 hasta 1528. También ocupó los cargos de provicario en 1532 y 1533, y diputada podestá en 1542.
