Ancienne et illustre famille anconitaine, dont les origines remontent au IXème siècle, et précisément dans le comté de Ferrette ou Pfirt en Alsace. C'est une tradition d'avoir des origines communes avec les Habsbourg et la descendance de la noble lignée Agilofingi est attribuée à cet Antonio Ferretti qui, vers 1225, vint en Italie, établissant son siège dans la plaine de Ronchi à Chiaravalle et Falconara Marittima, dans ce d'Ancône, donnant ainsi le principe aux habitants de Ferratta. Les chroniques sur les origines nous disent que Teobaldo, frère d'Ottopert de Habsbourg, fut le premier comte de Ferretto qui vécut au VIIIe siècle. Le dernier de ces messieurs était un comte Ulrich et l'empereur d'Allemagne lui-même avait, à la vérité, entre autres titres celui de Comes Ferrettis, comme le montre sans doute le diplôme du 24 juin 1589 de Rodolphe II.
