Ancient and very noble family of Northern Italy, originating from Brescia and known as Ferretto or Ferreto, passed to reside first in Padua and then in Vicenza in 1262, with a Ferreto, imperial notary in that city. Subsequently, the family spread to various cities in the Veneto region, with a large nucleus in Mestre. The family in Vicenza practiced the notarial art with honor, as many of its members were enrolled in the notarial college of Vicenza. The aforementioned Ferreto had two sons: Giacomo, also a notary, and Donato, a judge, as shown in an act of 1283. Giacomo had four children: Francesco, suffering from mental alienation; Ferreto (Vicenza, about 1297 - Vicenza, 1337), notary, orator, poet and excellent historian, author of a "Historia", narrating the historical events from the death of Emperor Frederick II (1250) until 1318; Citaino and Fontana, who followed the usual curriculum required for enrollment in
