Antiga e nobre família piemontesa chamada Ferreta ou Ferreto, propagada em diferentes regiões do norte, atribuída à nobreza em Ovada erguida por arma: De vermelho, ao leão coroado de ouro, com uma faixa de prata, carregado com cinco estrelas de seis raios de ouro, atravessando o todo. Outra família: muito antiga e nobre, originária de Brescia, chamada Ferreto ou Ferretto. Ferreto de Brescia, foi notário imperial em Vicenza em 1262. Ferreto di Giacomo, morto em 1337, era orador, poeta e excelente historiador. Esta família teve seus sepulcros nas igrejas de Santa Corona e San Lorenzo, nas quais foram esculpidas suas armas representando uma semi-tumba.
