Una familia muy noble, que desciende de los señores de Beaumont en Flandes, que se mudó a Venecia en 1359, con un Lázaro o Lázaro, llamado de Rotarii, que se estableció allí. Lo que se dice se deriva de un diploma del Conde Palatino, de 1465, existente en copia simple, en los Archivos Estatales de Venecia, que supuestamente fue emitido por el Emperador Federico III el 6 de febrero de 1465, a favor del noble soldado Lázaro. Ferreo, di Giovanni, de Venecia, con la concesión del condado de Palatine a él y los sucesores masculinos y la nobleza del SRI también a las mujeres. A finales del siglo XVI, el Ferro se dividió en dos líneas. El primero que quedaba en Venecia tenía la nobleza romana en el pueblo de Alvise, abogado y John, doctor en teología, hijos de Lázaro, y del emperador Leopoldo, con un diploma otorgado por Viena
