Familia antigua, de origen castellano, cuyo primer hogar fue en Salas de Los Barrios. Desde principios del siglo XVII, además, ha estado entre la aristocracia canaria; es decir, de los años en que se instaló en Santa Cruz de la Palma, donde ocupó de inmediato las principales dignidades locales. El primer descendiente de esta familia que se estableció en estas islas fue Don Santiago Fierro Díez Muñoz y Carral, nacido en Medina de Rioseco y casado el 25 de septiembre de 1629, con Donna María de Monteverde y Espino, hija del Regente perpetuo de La Palma, Capitán Don Melchor de Monteverde Van Dalle y Coquiel.
