Très ancienne noblesse qui a donné la filiation suivante: Guillaume, cité dans le Cartulaire de Chamalières, fait une donation entre 1201 et 1208. Autre Guillaume vivait en 1115. Bertrand, chevalier, donne le 15 juillet 1218, aux moines de Chamalières, un repas à prendre entre les fêtes de la Toussaint et de la St-André. On lui connaît au moins six enfants dont Bertrand l'aîné (1218-1266) eut de Ferriolie, son épouse, une fille: Blanche, laquelle apporta en mariage à Ranulphe de la Faye la seigneurie du Fieu. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on a reproduit ci-contre et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique la certitude d'une valeur remarquable. Armes de cette famille: De... à un lion grimpant de ... couronné de... Blason sculpté sur la porte du château du Fieu. On trouve aussi sous ce nom une autre famille d'ancienne noblesse dont Durand, chevalier de St-Jean de Jérusalem, rend une sentence en qualité d'official de la commanderie du Puy le 26 juin 1358.
