Antigua familia de Calabria, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El origen de este conocimiento, por decir lo menos de genealogistas autorizados, debe buscarse en la palabra latina "filices", es decir, un lugar lleno de helechos, probablemente característico de la primera residencia de un progenitor, hoy desconocido. Sin embargo, los heráldicos no estuvieron de acuerdo en excluir a un descendiente de la noble familia napolitana Felice.
