Familia muy antigua y noble, originaria de San Severino, trasplantada a Nápoles por un excelente jurisprudente Antonio que la llevó a un estado decente. En 1625 fue uno de los Maestros de la Santa Casa, una oficina que, aunque apoyó a uno de sus hijos, Girolamo, un ilustre jurisconsulto, que acumuló muchas riquezas, compró el feudo de Miano y logró ser agregado a la nobleza de San Severino. El Rey lo promovió primero al cargo de Impuesto de su patrimonio de Nápoles, luego al de Presidente del Consejo de Italia en España.
