Di origine alemanna, e scesa in Italia si fermò primieramente nel Bergamasco ove edificò un castello il quale fu addimandato Fino dal cognome dei suoi signori. Si vuole appartenesse a questa famiglia S. Fino martire che si venera nella terra d'Arona nel Milanese. Al tempo delle fazioni, distrutto il castello Fino, questa famiglia riparò alla Corte di Giovan Francesco Pico signore della Mirandola, da dove un Ludovico passò in Ferrara segretario di Alfonso I. Abbandonata anche quest'ultima città, prese stanza in Trieste ov'ebbe il titolo baronale, l'aggregazione ai nobili del regno di Ungheria e la nobiltà patrizia della provincia del Cragno. Giovan-Francesco Fino si distinse nella difesa del castello, borgo e territorio di Chersano. Giulio luogotenente del presidio della fotezza di Gradisca. Lo stemma della famiglia Fine è: Inquartato; nel primo e quarto di nero, al leone d'argento avente in bocca un trifoglio dello stesso, con la coda biforcata
