Ancient and very noble Tuscan family, originally from Siena but with branches also in Lucca and Pisa, of clear and ancestral virtue, spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. Ascribed to the Monte dei Gentiluomini, it resided in the city magistrates since the mid-10th century. The Finetti were members of the Consistory, Provveditori di Biccherna, rectors of the Opera della Metropolitana. Some of them wore the habit of Knights of the Order of Santo Stefano: Carlo, di Silvio, in 1638 and Giuseppe Domenico in 1730. Buonsignore, di Alessandro, former consistorial lawyer by Paul V and then governor of the Sacra Roman Rota, was Governor of Perugia around 1570. Cosimo III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, wanted it in the Florentine Wheel. Sigismondo was Provveditore della Biccherna between 1782 and 1787. Stemma della famiglia Finetti in Siena e Lucca; fonte bibliografica del blasone: "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze fasc. 5603. Note: nel disegno della raccolta la banda è leggermente meno inclinata ed il martello è posto nel verso della pezza; si trova anche il doppio cognome Finetti Rocchi, assunto da un ramo della famiglia dopo il matrimonio di Girolamo Finetti con Olimpia Rocchi nel 1666 e la conseguente eredità di quella famiglia per il figlio Carlo.
