Antiga e nobre família Sorrento, registrada na sede de Porta da referida cidade, que passou em Bisceglie, no século XIII. Entre os personagens que mais o ilustraram, lembramos: Filippo-Antonio, escudeiro de Angilberto del Balzo, conde de Ugento, em 1460; Giovan-Battista, que no século XVI serviu com grande elogio sob os venezianos e que na batalha de Zara contra os turcos, recebeu as primeiras honras da vitória obtida; Otaviano, soldado e marechal do rei Ladislaus Durres de Anjou. A linhagem foi reescrita no patrício de Sorrento, tanto em 1572 quanto em 1722, pelo Sacro Regio Consiglio. Foi reconhecida no título de nobre, com o Decreto Ministerial de 1907. A família, registrada no Livro Dourado da Nobreza Italiana e na Lista Nobre Oficial Italiana de 1922, levantou-se para as armas.
