Alte und sehr edle Familie von Rieti, von klarer und überlieferter Tugend, die sich in der berühmten Schlacht von Campaldino auszeichnete, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausbreitete. Ende des dreizehnten Jahrhunderts zog er nach Arezzo und nahm zu Beginn des zehnten sechsten auch den Nachnamen agnatizio Goretti an. In jedem Fall ist die Familie im Goldenen Buch mit dem Titel Patrizio di Arezzo (männlich und weiblich) eingetragen; Earl (erstgeborener Mann) durch Konzession der Kaiserin Maria Theresia am 27. Februar 1767 bestätigt am 27. März 1769 und anerkannt mit dem toskanischen großherzoglichen Reskript am 23. September 1791. (Entscheidung des Ministeriums für Gnade und Justiz vom 3. Juli 1915). Es wurde vertreten durch Graf Goretto, Doktor der Rechtswissenschaften der italienischen Krone, mauritischen Offizier, Ritter der Ehrenlegion, der belgischen Krone und der aufgehenden Sonne.
