Questa famiglia, detta prima de Florea, è originaria dell'Albania e fu cominciata da Galeotto Franco, di Scutario, il quale fu Signore dell'Albania. I suoi discendenti, spogliati di tale signoria dai Barbari nel secolo XII, emigrarono in Italia, e con le famiglie Mazzucca e Cessarione si stabilirono a Venezia, e poi verso la fine del secolo XIV, in Manfredonia. Un altro ramo della famiglia da Spalatro o Cattaro si stabilì nel Friuli, nel 1460. Questa famiglia ha goduto nobiltà in Udine, Manfredonia e Lecce. La famiglia La Rocca nobile in Messina, si estinse nella Floreanuti nel 1803. Sorgono monumenti di questa famiglia in Manfredonia nelle Chiese dei Minori Osservanti, dei PP. Domenicani e nella Cappella Gentilizia in S. Maria delle Grazie. La famiglia trovasi, inoltre, fra le Baronali di Terra di Lavoro nel 1239. Tra i feudi posseduti dalla fam. Floreanuti si ricordano quelli di Burgensatico sul ferro, acciaio e pece,
