El origen verdadero del apellido Flores, está en el nombre propio de Froyla o Fruela, del cual Froylez o Frolaz era patronímico, que se convirtió luego, por corrupción en Flores o Florez. Hay una cita del poema de la Toma de Almería, escrito en latín en el s. XII que dice " Flos erat ic Florum " ,era la flor de los Florez, haciendo referencia al origén de dicha forma. La cronica de Fernando III, habla de los servicios de un ricohombre Don. Rodrigo F. en la toma de Sevilla, en el año 1284. Se considera tronco de este linaje, antiquísimo, al Infante D. Aznar F, hijo bastardo del Rey de Asturias, D. Fruela II que falleció en 924; su rama troncal, en tercera generación fue F. Ximénez, conde y dueño de la villa de Taja, partido judicial de Belmonte ( Asturias ), tambien poseyó el monasterio de
