Vennero dalla Spagna, ove godevano il titolo di Marchesi. In Venezia attesero alla mercatura della lana e degli zuccheri, ed accumularono in breve tempo grandi ricchezze. Narrano le cronache di quel tempo, che qui in Venezia erano tenuti in conto di cristiani poco ferventi, e taluno andava dicendo che erano ebrei, perchè praticavano sempre confidenzialmente con questi, e usavano perfino la loro lingua. Il marchese Agostino però ha sempre battezzato i propri figliuoli, e fu anche Guardiano della Scuola del Santissimo a S. Geremia. Questo marchese adunque, al tempo della guerra di Candia, col fratello Antonio fece la solita offerta dei ducati 100 mille, per cui vennero ascritti tutti e due alla veneta nobiltà, in seguito alla parte ballottata il 16 gennaio 1664 in Senato con voti favorevoli 152, contrari 61, non sinceri 8, proposta e presa nel Maggior Consiglio il 24 gennaio 1664, ed approvata con voti favorevoli 585,
