Al siglo XVI se remonta el origen de la familia F., Mayorazgo que fundara en Barcelona con Juan F. quien, como los de toda su familia, figuraron inscritos desde muy antiguo en la matrícula de ciudadanos honrados de Barcelona, para lo que era preciso ser Caballero Hijodalgo y gozar de todos los privilegios y exenciones de la Nobleza. También figuraban desde tiempo inmemorial en la Cofradía de San Jorge, Cuerpo nobiliario a cuyos individuos correspondía exclusivamente mantener las justas y torneos en aquellas épocas caballerescas. Rafael F., hijo del referido Juan F., se estableció en Tenerife en 1506, siendo su Regidor Perpetuo por su Majestad en 1512. Fundó la capilla del Espíritu Santo en el convento de San Francisco de La Laguna, casando con Doña Paula Barnat, hija de Nicolás Bernat, Teniente de Maestre Racional de Cataluña, de cuyo matrimonio hubo tres hijos, el primero, Jerónimo, que sigue
