A dì 24 Genaro 1692 - Mistro Tomaso di Cargna hauti li Sacramenti di confessione, oglio santo morì d'anni 60 circa. Questo è il documneto più antico, relativo alla famiglia Fernezza, che si trova nella chiesa parrocchiale dedicata a S. Giorgio nel paese di S. Giorgio di Nogaro, situato nel distretto di Palmanova. Da esso si apprende che Mistro (equivalente a maestro, padrone, ecc.) Tomaso, era oriundo dalla Carnia; la regione montuosa, che ha il suo capoluogo a Tolmezzo, nella parte settentrionale di Udine. Sito deliziose per folti boschi, rocche ignude, colline amene, valli profonde, prospettive incantevoli ed allietate dal buon umore degli abitanti, dediti al lavoro rude, acuti d'ingegno e che sanno vivificare i lieti ritrovi con argute facezie. Evidentemente Tomaso fu il capostipite dei Fernezza "Sangiorgini". Gli successe Giacomo, marito a Maria ... decessa il 30 aprile 1724, forse nel dare alla luce Giambattista, ancor lui rapito
