Mencionado en Forez desde el siglo XVI, esta casa cuenta entre sus miembros a los señores de Butery, Lespinasse, La Verpillière, Chervé, etc., (Forez y Lyonnais), co-firmantes de St-Just-en-Velay, etc. Philippe Fournillon escudero, señor de Butery y Lespinasse, que tiene el don del rey de Francia para la retirada feudal de la tierra y el señorío de St-Just-lès-Velay, tramitó el 19 de diciembre de 1663 con el señor de Feugerolles (de la casa de Charpin), co-señor de dicha tierra, que tenía como abogado y representante Jean-Baptiste du Fornel, escudero, señor de Roure. La distinción familiar representada aquí en forma de escudo de armas, sobrevive a través de los siglos gracias a los preciosos testimonios que nos han permitido informar sobre las hazañas y las acciones de esta noble familia.
