Si hanno notizie di questa illustre famiglia, sin dal secolo XV. Un Guidone ne sarebbe il capostipite; suo figlio Francesco era speziale nel 1470 e così Lanzelotto, di Francesco, di Guidone, ed un Giovanni morto nel 1437. Nel 1527 Gian Battista era fra gli Anziani della città di Reggio e G. Francesco nel 1554 era Notaro. Un Bonifazio, di Claudio, sposò al principio del secolo XVIII Laura di Biagio Zoboli. Simone, vivente nel 1500, era medico e poeta; lesse umanità e scienze diverse a Bologna ed a Ferrara; fu dottissimo nelle lettere greche e latine; si conoscono suoi distici, per le stampe. Francesco visse pure nel secolo XVI e sposò Ippolita, del Cav. Luca Fontanelli. Alessandro, giureconsulto nel 1615, divenne canonico della Cattedrale di Reggio. Camilla Frami, moglie del Conte Bonifazio Ruggeri, morta nel 1618, fu dama eletta per ingegno, e così Giulia, che sposò il Nobile Innocenzo Cremona,
